Today's tragic news: Adam Yauch, founder of the legendary Beastie Boys known as "MCA", has died of cancer at age 47. It appears that your illness had intensified in recent weeks but much of the press remained somewhat outside the critical state was experiencing one of the most important figures in the emergence of hip hop 80's.
Yauch was born in Brooklyn and began playing bass since very young in a Beastie Boys built by John Berry, Kate Schellenbach, Michael Diamond and himself. BB initially were a punk / hardcore but it was 22 years old when Yauch & Co. began to attract worldwide attention thanks to "Licensed To Ill", debut album was released under Def Jam Records in 1986. Together, the Beastie Boys released many successful albums (Who does not remember "Ill Communication" or "Hello Nasty"?) And obtained awards of all kinds, from Grammys to awards at the MTV Video Music Awards.
A Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, which caused the delay in the release of "Hot Sauce Committee." Since then the life of Adam has been in continuous battle with a disease that, unfortunately, I ended up taking a few hours ago. Today both the world of music and the arts in general (Yauch also produced excellent music and films like "Awesome, I Fuckin 'Shot That") pays reverence to a teacher who taught us that music can break down the barriers of any genre that can get you assign.
Rest in peace, Adam.
